While the fashion industry is trying to reform into a more sustainable system, the complexity of both its supply chain and the concept of sustainability itself makes such endeavor a challenging conundrum. We believe that the first, crucial step in this ongoing process is to enable trust and credibility. Therefore, Engineer3d strives to provide companies with the right instruments to measure, compare and communicate their environmental performance. This way, they can acknowledge their impact on the world, and give tangible proof of their sustainability claims.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ANALYSIS (EIA)

Our proprietary framework is a powerful tool designed to estimate the environmental consequences of production across 4 main areas of impact:

AIR

greenhouse gas emissions in terms of CO2

TOXICITY

chemical production, use & disposal

WATER

blue water consumption & wastewater production

LAND

soil consumption linked to raw material usage

This information is obtained by combining primary information collected from you and your suppliers with third party databases and international accepted studies, ensuring a case-specific analysis of the highest possible accuracy and reliability.

Most importantly, we calculate environmental impacts for each garment, not just at a general company level – after all, a brand can’t claim to be truly sustainable if its products are not properly scrutinized.

Cradle-to-Gate LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT (LCA)

Taking things a step further, we can provide a more in-depth analysis. LCA is a standardised, worldwide recognized methodology used to calculate environmental impacts all along the supply chain – not just the manufacturing stage. This also enables easy benchmarking: a product’s environmental performance can thus be compared with similar offerings from other companies.

At the moment, we offer a “cradle-to-gate” LCA, evaluating impacts from raw materials extraction to factory gates (i.e. right before the finished product is shipped away). Calculation is conducted according to ISO 14040 requirements, using the OpenLCA software and both the Ecoinvent and Environmental Footprint databases.

Our blockchain (one of the most sustainable on the market) tracks each step leading to the finished products. All documents certifying operations, emissions, and offsetting policies are available to the final customers through a personalized dashboard.
